Suppose an array of new gun laws is soon to be passed at the state level which directly impedes the practical exercise of our 2nd Amendment rights to keep and bear arms.
Or suppose new public health directives attempt to re-impose social distancing and masking requirements, forbidding small gatherings of family and friends, in-person work, or attendance of church services.
As all laws must be enforced to be effective, who our county sheriff is plays a significant role in what impact such initiatives have on us and our neighbors, providing a crucial check and balance to our relationship with the rest of our government, as well as our relationships with one another.
How does our vote for the office of local sheriff impact how Colorado state laws are enforced in Weld county?
To help us answer this question, as we continue in our efforts to develop sound political theology, our seventh Ecclesia Forum event on March 17th will feature as special guest Weld County Sheriff Steve Reams, who will be speaking directly to our questions from nearly a decade of experience as our local sheriff, as well as 27 years with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office more broadly.
Mark your calendars, then. Invite your friends and family, and join us as we explore both principled and practical considerations for how to honor God and love our neighbor better, in Northern Colorado and beyond.
